Summer of '89.

We hang, we slang, we rock with the gang
Teeter totter clip clop, ciggie's from the corner shop.
Denim cut offs, leather biker, velvet mini made with lycra
Layer up the lip gloss, vogue it at the bus stop.

Lulu spritzed behind the knees, bottle of Martini please
Ellnett sets your make-up, crimpers keep your fringe up.
Motorbikes in Greenwood park, singing in the starry dark,
Teeter totter clip clop, (wish I'd worn my flip flops)

Boys are playing air guitar, girls admiring from afar,
Competition, territory, hussys come to steal your glory,
Singing loud to Guns n Roses, acting out Madonna poses,
Layer up the lip gloss, vogue it at the bus stop.

From my latest book purchase, 'Manolo Blahnik Drawings', Thames and Hudson... (see I don't just read magazines you know)... a choice selection of my favourite and bestist. It was VERY hard to whittle it down. They span across the decades from the seventies to the noughties.... I've mixed it up so you can have a guess at which decade they're from...;) It's harder than you think.

Best of Ebay Vintage: Sequins - II - with added vision

More of the bling... (see earlier post) ... so get a wriggle on ladies and gents....starting with the above: Item Number : 400058542669

In response to a comment that these were too 'American Granny' - which I can see - I thought I would just expand on my choices by explaining the personal vision i have for these pieces!
The above - I wouldn't change a thing.

Item Number: 380135036010 - Ok this in my opinion is too big for the wearer - someone a bit fleshier would wear it better - i would put it with faded blue or black vintage-washed skinny jeans - and I would take up the sleeves - basically chop the lower half of the sleeves and re-hem where the feathers end. Wear with attitude.

Item Number: 280365951456 - ok - so I'm not suggesting that you should go and do your grocery shopping in this - although it would be amazing if someone did - nor am I suggesting that it could be worn by me - but it COULD be worn as a gig/video outfit for an incredibly cool and toned front singer - think Alison Goldfrapp as opposed to Kylie (although I know this would fit right in to one of her shows too) - add leather jacket and wellies for the seasonal festival glam - and/or it could be worn by a drag queen... whichever way - it should be worn by someone - as it's awesome.

Item Number: 270418157215 - alright - this - the most 'american granny' of them all - also might work better with the sleeves taken off or shortened greatly - worn over skin tight leather trousers/'pants' - and kick-arse black heels/boots depending on the weather. Chop off and muss up those locks to neck length or shorter and you have in my humble opinion what I would call 'ROCK CHIC'!

Item Number: 160347173774
(My personal fave) Again - I would change nothing about this:) But again - shorter mussed up hair to go. Not sleek.

Hope you can see what i'm seeing - but if you don't - or you see something else but cooler - COMMENT please??!!
